• are similar to Tidal Area Current Catchers© with the similar advantages but additional support from the bridge resulting in lower mooring costs, lower export cable support costs, lower maintenance costs, etc.
• if the Bridge Current Catchers© are located under alternative bridge spans, bridge loads can be minimized and navigation free
• the bridge needs to have the strength to support both the normal bridge loads and the added lateral loads imposed by the Bridge Current Catchers©; therefore, provision for the Bridge Current Catchers© would be ideal for new bridge designs.
• provision for Bridge Current Catchers© across a river also allows provision for a new bridge across the river
• Bridge Current Catchers© do not need a dam or a weir to be constructed across the river
• the roads needed to construct the Bridge Current Catchers© could also be used to later cross the bridge
