MEC Patents as of December 5, 2014

  1. US Patent 6899049 - Apparatus and Method of Constructing Offshore Platforms - Approved May 2005

Introduces a low cost very stable floating offshore platform called the "Ocean Fortress"

    • If made from an existing tanker, the hull will be the lowest cost and fastest installed floating platform in the world
    • Its size ensures stability and maximum safety
    • It can be used in shallow/ultra deep water; in mild/harsh environments.
  2.

  3. US Patent 7215036 - Current Power Generator - Approved May 8, 2007
    • Traps and generates significant power from normal, everyday currents along the coastlines of most countries around the world
    • Far enough below the water's surface, it
      • is not visible from the shore
      • will not interfere with normal small craft traffic
      • is not disturbed by a storm wave
    • Can serve as support for the Ocean Wave Power Generator
    • Combined, the systems can mutually benefit from the power farm infrastructure including the Offshore Power Generator
  4.

  5. US Patent 7287935 - Tendon Assembly For Mooring Offshore Structure - Approved October 30, 2007

Introduces a low cost mooring system and when used in combination with the "Ocean Fortress" is called the "Tension Leg Counter Weight Platform" (TLCWP)

    • Can be used to anchor most floaters in shallow/ultra deep water
    • Uses the minimum number of mooring legs and mooring leg go straight to the bottom
    • The mooring legs can also laterally support risers, eliminating the need for VIV suppression systems on the risers
    • The mooring system's dampening device can be adjusted to meet required vessel motion requirements

  6. US Patent 7319278 - Ocean Wave Generator - Approved January 15, 2008
    • Generates significant power from normal, everyday waves along the coastlines of most countries around the world
    • Works best when used in conjunction with the Ocean Current Power Generator
  7.

  8. US Patent 7352078 - Offshore Power Generator With Current, Wave or Alternative Generators- Approved April 1, 2008
    • Provides a structure to support all types of power generators.
      • ocean wave/ocean current/wind/solar
    • It also allows the re-use of existing offshore structures to support all methods of offshore renewable energy power generation.
  9.

  10. US Patent 8573890 - Marine Power Generator Deployment and Retrieval System- Approved Nov. 5, 2013
The present invention relates to a marine generator deployment and retrieval system that allows marine power generators to be deployed into the water or retrieved from the underwater.
  11.

  12. US Patent 8823196 - Apparatus of Wave Generators and a Mooring System to Generate Electricity - Approved Sept. 2, 2014
The invention relates generally to power generation. More specifically, a floating hull and an anti-drift mooring system that collectively convert the marine wave forces into electrical energy.
  13.

  14. US Patent 8956103 - Hydroelectricity Generating Unit Capturing Marine Wave Energy and Marine Current Energy - Patent Published Feb. 17, 2015
The invention relates to marine power generation, and more specifically to support frames for supporting underwater current generators, which utilize turbines turned by marine currents to generate power.
